After the success of films like ‘Bhool Bhulaiya’, the franchise continued with equally captivating sequels. It can certainly be noticed that there has been an upsurge in the release of more films under this category and Sharwari Wagh and Abhay Varma starrer ‘Munjya’ joins the list.

The film revolves around a young man who uncovers a family secret after visiting his native village and accidentally falls into revenge. Munjya, a spirit who wants to marry him, holds him, and now he must fight to save himself and his love.

The horror comedy film stars Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan and Shiny Ahuja in lead roles. ‘Bhool Bhulaiya’ was a critical and commercial success that led to sequels. The second part starred Tabu, Karthik Aryan and Kiara Advani. Looking forward to the third part when Vidya Balan returns.

A blend of folklore, humor and social commentary, the film starred Rajkumar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor and Pankaj Tripathi. Centered in the small town of Chanderi, it revolves around the urban legend of ‘Stree’, a spirit who kidnaps men during a festival. Rajkumar plays a tailor who tries to unravel the mystery behind folklore. Shraddha Kapoor’s film became a huge success at the box office and became one of the best films in Indian cinema.

Starring Janhvi Kapoor and Rajkumar Rao, the film follows a young woman named Roohi. The film combined horror and comedy while addressing social norms. Rajkumar and Varun Sharma played two local news reporters who get caught up in a supernatural adventure. They try to save Ruhi to escape from the cruel spirit.

Varun Dhawan-starrer ‘Bhedia’ is inspired by the legend of the shape-shifting wolf (Yapum) of Arunachal Pradesh. The supernatural creature wants to protect the forest at any cost. Varun, who plays Bhaskar, arrives in a small town for a road construction project. After being bitten by a wolf in the woods, he finds himself transformed into a shape-shifting wolf. The film received positive reviews and received 13 Filmfare Award nominations.

Directed by Raj and DK, the film is set against the backdrop of a rave party on an isolated island in Goa. A group of friends suddenly get caught up in a zombie outbreak, where they are rescued by a Russian mafioso named Boris (Saif). The Saif Ali Khan starrer was a smashing mix of comedy and zombie horror. The film is hailed as India’s first zombie comedy, and is a satirical take on the zombie apocalypse. It also stars Kunal Khemu, Veer Das and Anand Tiwari.
