Deepika Chikhlia, who became a household name in the late 80s for her portrayal of Sita in Ramanand Sagar’s TV show Ramayan, recently shared her thoughts on Ranbir Kapoor’s upcoming film based on the same epic directed by Nitesh Tiwari. In an interview with India Today, Deepika expressed her reservations about remaking the Ramayana, stressing the importance of preserving the sanctity of religious texts.

Expressing her concerns, Deepika said, “Honestly, I’m quite disappointed with people who keep making Ramayana because I don’t think you should. People mess it up. I don’t think people should make Ramayana. Every time they want to come up with a new story and a new angle, they give Kriti Sanon a pink silk dress.” (Adipurushil) gave Saif (Saif Ali Khan who played Ravana in Om Raut’s film) a different look because they wanted to do something different and creative, but what you’re doing is ruining the whole impact of Ramayana.
