  1. Instagram encourages people to ‘Take a Break’ from social media 
  • Instagram has announced the launch of ‘Take a Break’ in all countries, including India, so that people can make informed decisions about how they spend their time.
  • The feature will be promoted in India through a campaign called ‘We the Young’, in partnership with ‘Break Zaroori Hai’. ‘Take a Break’ was first launched in the US, UK, Ireland, Canada, New Zealand and Australia and is now available to everyone globally.
  • Take a break is a feature that will be visible to people as they’ve been scrolling for a certain amount of time. They will be asked to take a break from Instagram and will be suggested to set reminders to take more breaks in the future.
  • Expert-backed tips to help them reflect and reset will also be shown. To make sure youth are aware of this feature, they will be shown notifications suggesting they turn on these reminders.
  • ‘Break a break’ reminders build on Instagram’s existing time management tools, including a daily limit, which lets people know how much time they want to spend on Instagram each day, and the ability to mute notifications from Instagram Is.

  1. India’s first biomass-based hydrogen plant to come up at Madhya Pradesh 
  • India’s first commercial scale biomass based hydrogen plant will be set up in Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh.
  • The plant will produce one tonne of hydrogen every day from 30 tonnes of biomass feedstock. The plant is being set up by a joint venture of Watomo Energy Limited and Bezel Green Energy with an investment of Rs 24 crore.
  • The company has the technology of ‘thermally accelerated anaerobic digestion (TAD) reactor’ which can produce hydrogen, methane and biochar from biomass. Bizzell Green will own 50 percent of the yet-to-be-named joint venture; Another 50 per cent will come from interested farmers.

  1. Razorpay buys majority stake in Malaysian startup “Curlec”
  • With the acquisition of a majority stake in Malaysian fintech firm Curlek, Razorpay has expanded into Southeast Asia, valuing the company between $19-20 million. Razorpay expects to complete the entire acquisition in the next one-and-a-half years.
  • Based in Kuala Lumpur, Curlec creates solutions for recurring payments for businesses. This is RazorPay’s fourth acquisition overall and its first in international markets.
  • This acquisition will allow us to rapidly grow and begin scaling as a market in Southeast Asia. Curlec is powering recurring payments for many companies in the Malaysian market. With them as part of this team, we will have a local team that understands the nuances of the mass market in Malaysia and Southeast Asia.

  • The naming of the Ahmedabad franchise comes days after Lucknow, owned by RPSG Group, announced its official name as Lucknow Super Giants. The Lucknow team will be led by KL Rahul.

  1. Nitin Gadkari received 18th Late Madhavrao Limaye Award
  • Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari will be conferred with the 18th Late Madhavrao Limaye Award for the first time in the category of Program Khasdar (Efficient Member of Parliament) for the year 2020-21.
  • The award will be presented by the Nashik Public Library, Public Vachanalaya. Earlier, this award was given to an efficient Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) of Maharashtra, to an efficient Amdar.
  • Sarvajanik Vachanalaya annually selects one from amongst the members of the Legislative Council (Lok Sabha), Vidhan Sabha (Rajya Sabha) for the Efficient Legislator or Member of Parliament (MP) award. The award has been instituted in the memory of Limaye by his daughter Dr. Shobha Nerlikar. The award consists of a cash prize of Rs 50,000 and a memento.

  1. World Pulses Day 2022: Observed On 10 February
  • World Pulses Day designated by the United Nations is observed every year on 10 February. The day has been established by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations to recognize the importance of pulses (dry beans, lentils, dried peas, chickpeas, lupine) as a global food.
  • The theme of this year’s World Pulses Day: “Pulses to empower youth to achieve sustainable agricultural food systems”.
  • In 2018, the United Nations General Assembly decided to mark 10 February as World Pulses Day. The first WPD was conducted on February 10, 2019. On 20 December 2013, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution (A/RES/68/231) declaring 2016 as the International Year of Pulses (IYP).
