45th International Kolkata Book Fair to start from February 28

The 45th International Kolkata Book Fair will start from 28 February to 13 March. The main theme of this year is Bangladesh. This year’s theme is Bangladesh, due to both the birth centenary of Bangabandhu and 50 years of Bangladesh’s independence.
Bangladesh Day will be celebrated on March 3 and 4. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will inaugurate the fair on February 28.
The Kolkata Book Fair was recognized by the International Publishers Association, Geneva and also Geneva has included the International Kolkata Book Fair in the calendar of book fairs published by them.
Apart from Bangladesh, Britain, America, Russia, Italy, Japan, Iran, Spain, Argentina, Mexico and other Latin American countries will participate in the Kolkata Book Fair.

State Bank of India (SBI) has announced a partnership with NSE Academy to launch five online courses promoting financial literacy as an essential life skill.

World Unani Day observed on 11 February 2022

World Unani Day is observed on February 11 every year to mark the birth anniversary of “Hakim Ajmal Khan”, an eminent Indian Unani physician. The first Unani Day was celebrated in 2017 at the Central Research Institute of Unani Medicine (CRIUM), Hyderabad.
The main objective is to spread the awareness in masses and action about healthcare delivery through the Unani system of medicine worldwide through its preventive and curative philosophy.
Hakim Ajmal Khan was an eminent Indian Unani physician who was a versatile genius, a great scholar, a social reformer, a noted freedom fighter, an Unani medical educationist and founder of scientific research in Unani System of Medicine. He was one of the founders of the Jamia Millia Islamia in New Delhi.

International Day of Women and Girls in Science: 11 February

International Day of Women and Girls in Science is observed globally on 11 February. The 7th International Day of Women and Girls in Vigyan Sabha, to be held on 11 February 2022, aims to recognize the role of women and girls in science not only as beneficiaries but also as agents of change, with a view to accelerating progress. Consideration is also included. Achievement of SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation).
The day is implemented by UNESCO and UN-Women in collaboration with institutions and civil society partners, which aims to promote women and girls in science. The theme of the day for 2022 is “Equity, Diversity and Inclusion: Water Unites Us”.

National Deworming Day 2022

National Deworming Day is observed on 10 February to make people aware about the importance of deworming, especially for children in the age group of 1 to 19 years, who are most vulnerable.
The day was started by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in 2015. The main objective of this day is to raise awareness about intestinal worms and achieve complete eradication of soil-transmitted worms in children. About 24% of the world’s population is infected with soil-infected worms.

J&K became first Union Territory to be integrated with NSWS

Jammu and Kashmir has become the first Union Territory to be integrated with the National Single Window System (NSWS), marking a major leap in the Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) in the UT.
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha launched J&K Single Window Clearance System integrated with NSWS. NSWS is linked to India Industrial Land Bank (IILB) which hosts 45 industrial parks of J&K which will help investors to find available land parcels in J&K.

World Book of Records: Atal Tunnel recognized as ‘Longest Highway Tunnel

The Atal Tunnel has been officially certified as the ‘world’s longest highway tunnel above 10,000 feet’ by the World Book of Records. The Atal Tunnel is a highway tunnel built under the Rohtang Pass in the Eastern Pir Panjal Himalayan range on the Leh–Manali Highway.
It is the longest single-tube tunnel above 10,000 feet in the world with a length of approximately 9.02 km. The World Book of Records, UK is an organization that catalogs, verifies exceptional records with authentic certification around the world.

Surat to get India’s 1st bullet train station by Dec 2024

The Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project will be India’s first bullet train route. Whereas Surat city will get India’s first bullet train station. National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) will build the project which is to be completed by December 2024.
The cost of the project is estimated to be over Rs 1 lakh crore, of which Rs 88,000 crore will be funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Of the 508.17 km Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project, 155.76 km is in Maharashtra, 384.04 km is in Gujarat and 4.3 km is in Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
