  • The Indian Navy participated in the US Navy-led South East Asia Cooperation and Training (SEACAT) military exercise in Singapore to showcase its maritime maneuvers.
  • The main objective of SEACAT 2021 was to enhance interoperability and shared maritime security concerns and to preserve the rules-based international order. Around 400 personnel and 10 ships were involved in this exercise.
  • The 20th edition of the exercise was conducted by the US Navy in a hybrid format, and involved 20 other participating nations from the Indo-Pacific region, including India.
  • SEACAT was first conducted in 2002. The aim of the exercise is to promote cooperation among Southeast Asian countries by incorporating standardized training, strategies and procedures on coping with hazards, contingencies or illegal activities in the maritime domain.

  • Public sector Indian Bank has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) as one of the banking partners of the Paralympic Games to begin in Tokyo, Japan from August 24.
  • The Bank, through its year-long collaboration with PCI, will provide financial assistance to Paralympic athletes. Deepa Malik is the chairperson of the Paralympic Committee of India.
