- First woman astronaut to go on a space mission from Saudi Arabia in 2023
- Saudi Arabia’s first female astronaut to go into space this year, Saudi female astronaut Rayana Barnawi will join fellow Saudi Ali Al-Qarni on a 10-day mission to the International Space Station (ISS).
- Barnawi and Al-Qarni will fly to the ISS on a SpaceX Dragon spacecraft as part of a mission by private space company Axiom Space.
- Cyclone Gabriel hits Auckland, houses evacuated, power cuts, and flights canceled
- Residents of New Zealand’s biggest city Auckland and the surrounding region are being warned to prepare for more intense rain, flooding, and gale-force winds as Cyclone Gabrielle approaches the nation’s coast. Some houses are also being evacuated.
- Currently 200 kilometers (125 miles) northeast of Auckland, Gabrielle is expected to travel close to the east coast in the next 24 hours. The cyclone is the second significant weather event to affect Auckland and the upper North Island in recent times.
- Mohammad Shahabuddin elected 22nd President of Bangladesh
- Former judge and freedom fighter Mohammad Shahabuddin Chupu was elected unopposed as the 22nd President of Bangladesh.
- A gazette was issued by the Chief Election Commissioner on the appointment of the new President of Bangladesh. According to the country’s Chief Election Commission, 74-year-old Chuppu will succeed President Mohammad Abdul Hameed.

- Center sets up committee to frame coastal shipping guidelines
- The shipping ministry has constituted a committee to draft revised guidelines for the operation of the Roll On-Roll Off (Ro-Ro) and Roll On-Passenger (Ro-Pax) ferry service.
- The committee, headed by the chairman of Deendayal Port Authority, will also draft a model concession agreement for Ro-Ro or Ro-Pax terminal operator and a model license agreement for operating ferry services in the country.
- Appointed Chief Justice of 4 High Courts; Justice N Koteshwar Singh has been made the Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court
- Four judges, including two who are set to retire at the end of this month, were appointed as chief justices of high courts. Justice Sonia Giridhar Gokani, the senior-most judge of the Gujarat High Court, has been appointed as its Chief Justice.
- After taking the oath, she will be the only woman Chief Justice of the High Court. There are 25 High Courts in India. Justice Sabina is working as the Acting Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court.

- Jammu and Kashmir, which is part of the wider region of Kashmir and is located in the northern part of the Indian subcontinent and has been the subject of conflict between India, Pakistan, and China since 1947, was granted special status under Article 370 of the Indian Constitution.

- The country’s strictest anti-copying law has come into force in Uttarakhand. Governor Lt Gen Gurmeet Singh has approved the Uttarakhand Competitive Examination (Prevention and Measures for Prevention of Unfair Means in Recruitment) Ordinance 2023.
