Karl Nehammer sworn in as Chancellor of Austria

Austrian President Alexander Van der Belen sworn in Karl Nehmer as the new Austrian Chancellor at a ceremony at the Hofburg Palace in Vienna, Austria. He succeeds career diplomat Alexander Schellenberg who took over as chancellor in October 2021.
He is the third person in the last two months to assume the role of chancellor of Austria. Nehmar, of the ruling conservative Austrian People’s Party (ÖVP), was formerly the country’s interior minister.
The Vienna-born Nehammer worked in the army for several years. He then started working as a communications adviser before becoming a politician in 2017. He was made interior minister in January 2020. While he was in office, Austria experienced its first Islamist terrorist attack, in which four people were killed last November.

Haryana launches new Integrated Command and Control Center in Karnal

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has opened a new Integrated Command and Control Center (ICCC) under the Karnal Smart City Project.
The new Command and Control Center will greatly enable the functioning of advanced systems such as adaptive traffic control, automatic number plate recognition, red light violation detection and speed violations.
With the inauguration ceremony of ICCC, a lot of smart traffic management systems got activated in the city. Rishabh Pant named as Uttarakhand’s brand ambassador

Good Governance Week 2021: 20-25 December

The Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh inaugurated the Good Governance Week campaign on the theme “Administration of Gaon Ki Aur”, which aims to showcase and imitate best governance practices at the grassroots level.
Good Governance Week is being observed on 20-25 December as part of the Amrit Mahotsav festival of Azadi. During the week-long programme, more than 700 district collectors will visit Tehsil and Panchayat Samiti headquarters for timely grievance redressal and improvement in service delivery.
It is being celebrated by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions in collaboration with various other ministries and departments.

Former SC Judge Justice GT Nanavati Who Headed ‘2002 Godhra Riots’ passes away

Justice Girish Thakorlal Nanavati, a former Supreme Court judge who headed two inquiry commissions set up to probe the 2002 Godhra riots and the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, passed away.
Justice Girish Thakorlal Nanavati was 86 years old. He was elevated as a judge of the Supreme Court of India in March 1995 and retired as a SC judge in February 2000.

Former Union Minister R L Jalappa passes away

A veteran leader of the Indian National Congress (INC) and former Union Textiles Minister, RL Jalappa has passed away. RL Jalappa was the founder and president of Devaraj Urs Medical College in Kolar and RL Jalappa Institute of Technology, Doddaballapur.
In 1979 he left Congress to form Karnataka Kranti Ranga along with former Chief Minister D Devaraj Urs and in 1998 he joined Congress again.

Chief Justice of India (CJI) Justice NV Ramana and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has inaugurated India’s first International Arbitration and Arbitration Center (IAMC) at Phoenix VK Tower in Nanakramguda, Hyderabad, Telangana.
Those enlisting the center include internationally acclaimed arbitrators and arbitrators from countries such as Singapore and the UK.
