- The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the inauguration of a new Consulate General of India in the city of Addu in Maldives in 2021.

- RuPay SoftPOS enables merchants to accept payments securely with contactless cards, mobile wallets and wearables only with their mobile phones.
- NPCI has authorized the SoftPOS solution developed by PayCore for RuPay. This solution can be integrated into a bank or aggregator acquisition system to enable RuPay to be obtained using mobile phones enabled with NFC capability or add-ons.
- Millions of merchants can now convert their near field communication-enabled (NFC) smartphone into a POS machine to accept contactless payments through RuPay SoftPOS.
