  1. Crisil Projects India’s GDP Growth for FY22 to 9.5%
  • Domestic credit rating agency CRISIL has revised its GDP growth forecast for India to 9.5 per cent in FY22 (2021-22), from the earlier estimate of 11 per cent.
  • As per CRISIL, the economy had contracted by 7.3 percent in FY21.
  • The downside correction is basically due to the hit to private consumption and investment after the second wave of COVID-19.

  1. Global Teacher Award Winning Indian Educationist Ranjitsinh Disale Appointed as Education Advisor to World Bank
  • Ranjitsinh Disale, the first Indian teacher to win the prestigious Global Teacher Award in 2020, has now been appointed as the Education Advisor to the International Advisory Board of the World Bank, with the main objective of improving teaching quality.
  • He is among the 12 advisors appointed from across the world and will represent India.
  • Mr Disale, who hails from Paritwadi in Maharashtra’s Solapur district, will serve as the World Bank’s education advisor for the period from June 2021 to June 2024.
  • Mr Desale won the USD 1 million annual Global Teacher Award in December 2020 for his efforts to promote girls’ education and fuel the Quick Response (QR) coded textbook revolution in the country.
  1. Vishwavir Ahuja re-appointed as MD & CEO of RBL Bank
  • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has approved the reappointment of Vishwavir Ahuja as the Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of private lender RBL Bank for a period of one year with effect from June 30, 2021.
  • Ahuja is the head of the bank since 30 June 2010
