  1. France to withdraw military from Mali after nine years
  • French President Emmanuel Macron has confirmed that France and its European allies will begin a military withdrawal from Mali after fighting a jihadist insurgency for more than nine years.

  • The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare will launch ‘Meri Policy Mere Haath’ which is a door-to-door distribution campaign for providing crop insurance policies to farmers under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY).
  • The objective of the campaign is to ensure that all farmers are aware of all the information about their policies, land records, claim process and grievance redressal under PMFBY.
  • Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) has completed 6 years of its implementation. It was launched on 18 February 2016 by PM Modi in Sehore, Madhya Pradesh.

  1. SEBI reconstitutes advisory committee on alternative investment policy; Chair-N R Narayana Murthy
  • The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has reconstituted its Alternative Investment Policy Advisory Committee.
  • The committee advises the capital markets regulator on a number of issues that affect the further development of the AIF (alternative investment fund) industry.
  • The reconstituted committee has 20 members. Infosys co-founder NR Narayana Murthy is the chairman of this committee.
  • Earlier there were 22 members in the committee, which was constituted by SEBI in March 2015.
  1. Bank of Baroda signs MoU with Assam Rifles to provide Central Forces Salary Package
  • Bank of Baroda has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the oldest paramilitary force, Assam Rifles to provide Baroda Central Force Salary Package to all personnel of Assam Rifles.
  • Bank of Baroda will also offer special benefits including personal accident insurance and a co-branded credit card to the Assam Rifles personnel.
