  1. Vande Bharatam’s signature tune released by Minister of State for Culture 
  • Minister of State for Culture and External Affairs Meenakshi Lekhi has released a signature tune for ‘Vande Bharatam’. The song has been composed by Grammy Award winner Ricky Cage and Oscar contestant Bikram Ghosh.
  • It was prepared for the Vande Bharatam, dance festival of the Ministry of Culture presented at Rajpath, New Delhi for the Republic Day celebrations 2022. This was followed by an engaging live performance by the composers of Vande Bharatam song Ricky Kej and Bikram Ghosh.
  • Two composers, Ricky Cage and Bikram Ghosh shared that it is an honor for them to give the score for Vande Bharatam which is a very rich piece of music and is based on Indian traditions but also has modern features and fusion.
  • The Ministry of Defense handed over the special trophy to the Ministry of Culture in recognition of its exemplary efforts during the Republic Day event 2022.
  1. Giriraj Singh launches Ombudsperson App for Mahatma Gandhi NREGA
  • The Union Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Giriraj Singh has launched Lokpal App for Mahatma Gandhi NREGA.
  • The Ministry of Rural Development has developed a Lokpal App for smooth reporting and classification of complaints by the Ombudsman on the basis of complaints received from various sources. Physical, digital and mass media related to the implementation of Mahatma Gandhi NREGA Scheme in the States/UTs.
  • The app will enable easy tracking and timely passing of awards by the Ombudsman on each case as per the guidelines. The Ombudsman can also easily upload quarterly and annual reports on the website through the app.
  • The app will help the Lokpal to a great extent in discharging its duty towards transparency and accountability. Also, smooth disposal of complaints will be possible through the app and in a time bound manner with minimum support of human resources.

  1. Rakesh Sharma again appointed as MD & CEO of IDBI Bank
  • Industrial Development Bank of India (IDBI Bank) has informed stock exchanges that its board has decided to re-appoint Rakesh Sharma as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the bank for a period of three years with effect from March 19, 2022. has approved. Sharma’s reappointment as the MD and CEO of the bank has received the approval of the banking regulator, Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
  • Sharma was earlier the MD and CEO of Canara Bank and retired from the position in July 2018. Prior to this, he served as the MD and CEO of Lakshmi Vilas Bank from March 2014 to September 2015. He was earlier associated with State Bank of India (SBI).

  1. India receives three more Rafale Fighter Jets from France
  • With India-specific enhancements, three more Rafale fighter jets from France landed in India. With this new arrival of three jets, the total Rafale fleet with the Indian Air Force (IAF) has reached 35.
  • The 36th and final aircraft will reach India from France by March-April 2022 and will be a trainer aircraft. In September 2016, India exchanged a deal worth Rs 59,000 crore with France for 36 Rafale fighter jets.
  • The first consignment of five Rafale aircraft reached India on July 29 last year. India and France had signed an inter-governmental agreement in 2016, under which Paris had agreed to provide 36 Rafale fighter jets to New Delhi.
  1. Army Chief MM Naravane presents President’s Colours to four parachute battalions 
  • Chief of Army Staff General MM Naravane has presented Presidential Colours to four parachute battalions at Parachute Regiment Training Centre in Bengaluru. The four battalions are the 11 Para (Special Forces), 21 Para (Special Forces), 23 Para, and 29 Para battalions.
  • The award of President’s Colours or the ‘Nishan’ is one of the highest honours bestowed upon a military unit in recognition of its exceptional service to the nation, both during the war and in peace.
  • The Parachute Regiment is an elite force of the Indian Army and holds an impeccable record in battle, both before and after Independence. It has been conferred with 51 Battle Honours, one Victoria Cross, 28 Military Medals (MM), 11 Distinguished Service Orders (DSO), 40 Indian Distinguished Service Medals (IDSM) and 40 Military Cross (MC) up to independence.
  1. Indian Navy’s multilateral exercise Milan 2022 kick-off

  • The latest edition of the Indian Navy’s multilateral exercise MILAN 2022 is starting from 25 February 22 at the ‘City of Fortune’ in Visakhapatnam.
  • MILAN 22 is being conducted in two phases over a period of 9 days, with the port phase scheduled from 25 to 28 February and the sea phase scheduled from 01 to 04 March. India celebrates its 75th year of independence in 2022, and MILAN 22 provides an opportunity to celebrate this milestone with our friends and partners.
  • The theme of the MILAN 2022 exercise is ‘Camaraderie – Harmony – Cooperation’, which aims to project India as a responsible maritime power to the world at large. The aim of the exercise is to improve operational skills, assimilate best practices and procedures and enable theoretical learning in the maritime domain through professional interaction between friendly navies.

  1. SPMCIL Delhi headquarters declared a prohibited place
  • The Ministry of Home Affairs has declared the Delhi Headquarters of the Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India Limited (SPMCIL) as a ‘prohibited place’ under Section 2 of the Official Secrets Act, 1923.
  • It prevents the entry of unauthorized persons. It is the only currency and banknote maker in India, which printed new series of Rs 2,000 and Rs 500 notes in 2016. SPMCIL’s nine production units, where banknotes and other government papers are manufactured, are already restricted locations.
  • Only the Delhi Headquarters, where important decisions are taken and important files are prepared, were not within its purview. Through the latest order, the Delhi office has also been declared a restricted place. There are nine production units, four India Government Mints, two currency note presses.
