India and Maldives signed an MoU to launch pilot project on ‘pre-arrival customs data exchange’

India and Maldives signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Customs of the two countries for the joint launch of a pilot project on ‘Pre-Arrival Customs Data Exchange’ in a virtual ceremony.
It was launched by Vivek Johri, Chairman, Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) and Abdulla Sharif, Commissioner General, Maldives Customs Service.
This MoU helps in faster export-import (EXIM) clearance, fast-track customs payment and fraud detection.

Tamil Nadu Government launched CM Dashboard monitoring system “CM Dashboard Tamil Nadu 360”

The Government of Tamil Nadu launched the Chief Minister (CM) Dashboard Monitoring System, “CM Dashboard Tamil Nadu 360” in Chennai.
This will enable the CM to track all welfare schemes, including their implementation status, fund allocation and number of beneficiaries as well as updates on water storage in dams and rainfall patterns.

Centre extended Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana till March 2022

Under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, the Center is providing five kilograms of food grains per person per month free of cost to all the beneficiaries covered under the National Food Security Act.
The scheme is a food security welfare scheme which was envisioned by PM Modi to provide support and assistance in mitigating the economic impact of COVID-19.

BOB Financial and Indian Navy launched a co-branded credit card

BOB Financial Solutions Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Bank of Baroda and the Indian Navy, has launched a co-branded credit card for naval personnel.
The credit card will be offered on the RuPay platform and will be equipped with contactless features.
A Navy personnel up to the age of 64 will be eligible to choose from 3 variants of co-branded credit cards.

Aanchal Thakur won bronze at FIS Alpine Skiing Competition 2021

Indian skier Aanchal Thakur has won a bronze medal in the International Ski Federation (FIS) alpine skiing competition in Montenegro.
She finished third with a total time of 1:54:30. With this, Aanchal has become the first Indian ski athlete to win two medals at the international level.
She had earlier won bronze medal in Turkey Georgia Epifenyuvon silver medal at 2018 FIS Alpine 3200 Cup and was just 2 seconds ahead of Aanchal.

Bangladesh won SAFF U 19 Women’s Championship 2021 by defeating India

Bangladesh U-19 women’s team won the SAFF U-19 Women’s Football Championship in Dhaka by defeating India 1-0 at the BSSS Mustafa Kamal Stadium in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
The 2021 SAFF U-19 Women’s Championship was the second edition of the international football competition for women’s under-19 national teams organized by SAFF.
Bangladesh’s Shaheda Akhtar Ripa scored the most goals in the tournament. He received the ‘Most Valuable Player’ award.

Harbhajan Singh announced retirement from all forms of cricket

Senior Indian off-spinner, Harbhajan Singh announced retirement from all forms of cricket.
Major boost in his international career was when he snapped 32 wickets in three Tests, including a hat-trick, against Australia in March in 2001. Harbhajan was the 1st Indian Cricketer to take Hat-trick wickets in Test Cricket.
He took 417 wickets in 103 Tests and is the 4th highest wicket-taker for India in Test cricket. He made his debut to the national cricket team, during an ODI (One Day International) against New Zealand at Sharjah in 1998 and lastly represented India in 2016 during a T20 against the UAE at Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Malayalam Director KS Sethumadhavan passed away

Legendary Malayalam filmmaker KS Sethumadhavan passed away at the age of 90 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
He directed more than 60 films in five languages including Tamil, Telugu and Hindi during his career. He directed popular movies like Odayil Ninnu, Anubhavangal Palichkal, Opole, Aranjhikaneeram, Achanum Bappayam etc.
He has won 10 National Film Awards, 9 Kerala State Awards.
