  1. Tripura Govt announced “Mukhyamantri Chaa Srami Kalyan Prakalpa” scheme 
  • Tripura government has announced a special scheme ‘Mukhyamantri Cha Shramik Kalyan Prakalpa’ for tea workers. A special scheme, allotted Rs. 85 crores for its implementation, as a step towards bringing 7000 tea garden workers of Tripura under the social safety net.
  • This special scheme will ensure housing, ration and financial assistance to the tea garden workers by integrating the facilities entitled for them by the State Government and the Central Government.
  1. Jyotiraditya Scindia inaugurates first drone school at Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh 
  • Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan jointly inaugurated the first Drone School in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh.
  • This Drone School is one of the five Drone Schools to be opened in different cities of Madhya Pradesh. The other four cities are Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur and Satna.
  • This drone school of Gwalior will not only pave the way for progressing ahead by connecting the youth of Madhya Pradesh with technology, but will also increase employment opportunities. This school will prove to be a milestone in the progress and progress of Gwalior as well as Madhya Pradesh.

  1. Prabha Narasimhan named as CEO of Colgate-Palmolive India
  • Prabha Narasimhan has been appointed as the CEO and MD of Colgate-Palmolive (India) Limited. She will replace Ram Raghavan, who has been promoted as President, Enterprise Oral Care at Colgate Palmolive Company.
  • Prior to this, she was serving as the Executive Director of Hindustan Unilever (HUL). Colgate-Palmolive (India) offers oral care products under the brand ‘Colgate’. It also offers personal care products under the brand name ‘Palmolive’.
  1. Justice AK Sikri named as Chairperson of Chardham project Committee
  • The Supreme Court of India has nominated Justice (Retd) AK Sikri as the Chairman of the High Powered Committee (HPC) of Chardham Project.
  • The previous chairman Professor Ravi Chopra had resigned from his post in February 2022 after being appointed as the chairman of HPC on August 8, 2019.
  • A bench of Justices DY Chandrachud and Surya Kant had in January accepted the resignation of Professor Ravi Chopra as the chairman of the committee after writing a letter.

  1. RBI directs Paytm Payments Bank Ltd to stop onboarding of new customers 
  • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has directed Paytm Payments Bank Limited to stop the onboarding of new customers with immediate effect. The bank has also been directed to appoint an IT audit firm to conduct a comprehensive system audit of its IT systems. RBI took the decision in exercise of its powers under Section 35A of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949.
  • RBI has advised Paytm Payments Bank to appoint an IT audit firm to conduct a comprehensive system audit of its IT systems. Once the audit is over, RBI will review the IT auditors’ report and on the basis of the report, allow or review the addition of new clients.
  • Addition of new customers by Paytm Payments Bank Limited will be subject to specific permission given by RBI after review of the report of IT Auditors. This action is based on certain material supervisory concerns observed in the Bank.
