  1. Meghalaya Cabinet approves creation of new district named Eastern West Khasi Hills District
  • The Meghalaya Cabinet has given its approval to create a new district named Eastern West Khasi Hills District. under the proposal, the Mairang civil sub-division will be upgraded to a full-fledged district.
  • On 10th November 2021, The new district will be inaugurated by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma.
  • With this, Meghalaya will have 12 in a total number of districts
  • Chief Minister Conrad Sangma Said in tweet regard this
  • “Proposal to upgrade the Mairang Civil Sub-Division to a full-fledged district has been approved by the Cabinet today. Happy to announce that the new district will be named Eastern West Khasi Hills and will be inaugurated on 10th Nov 2021,”

  1. Alphabet launches AI-driven drug discovery start-up Isomorphic Labs
  • Google’s parent company Alphabet has launched an AI-powered drug discovery start-up. It aims to use artificial intelligence for drug discovery. The main objective of the company is to use AI (artificial intelligence) to accelerate drug discovery and eventually find a cure for some of humanity’s most devastating diseases.
  • Google’s new company will be known as Isomorphic Laboratories and Demis Hassabis will be the CEO of Isomorphic Labs.
  • The London-based Isomorphic Labs will focus on the most important applications of AI — in the field of biological and medical research.

  1. National Cancer Awareness Day: 7th November
  • The National Cancer Awareness Day is observed annually in India on November 7, to spread awareness on cancer, its symptoms and treatment. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), cancer is the second leading cause of death globally.
  • In 2018, approximately 18 million cases were there globally, of which, 1.5 million were in India alone. In 2018, there were around 0.8 million cancer deaths in India against 9.5 million globally.
  • On 7 November 2014, Former Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare Dr. Harsh Vardhan announced that seventh November will be celebrated as national Cancer awareness day every year to highlight the contributions of an eminent scientist who is important and a role model for all those who are fighting cancer.

  1. Manu Bhaker and Javad Foroughi win air pistol mixed team gold in President’s Cup
  • Manu Bhaker, Indian women’s pistol ace and current Olympic champion Jawad Forofi of Iran won the 10m air pistol mixed team gold at the inaugural ISSF President’s Cup. The Indo-Iranian pair defeated the French-Russian pair of Mathilde Lamoulle and Artem Chernausov 16-8.
  • The inaugural ISSF President’s Cup is an edition of the World Cup Final. The winners are awarded the Golden Target along with the prize money.

  1. Dronacharya Awardee Eminent Cricket Coach Tarak Sinha died at 71
  • Decorated cricket coach Tarak Sinha has passed away at the age of 71 in New Delhi. He was suffering from cancer. Tarak Sinha has worked with generations of Indian cricketers.
  • Tarak Singh was admitted to a hospital in New Delhi due to multiple organ failure.
  • Tarak Sinha was the recipient of the Dronacharya Award in 2018, being the 5th Indian cricket coach after Desh Prem Azad, Gurcharan Singh, Ramakant Achrekar and Sunita Sharma to have received the Dronacharya Award.
