Google’s parent company Alphabet launches AI-driven drug discovery start-up Isomorphic Labs

Google’s parent company Alphabet has launched a new company, Isomorphic Labs, in London.
The company aims to use AI (artificial intelligence) for drug discovery and medicine to treat some of humanity’s most devastating diseases.
Demis Hasabis will be the CEO of Isomorphic Labs.
Hasabis is the CEO and co-founder of DeepMind, another Alphabet subsidiary, which used AI to predict the 3D structure of a protein directly from its amino acid sequence.

Meghalaya Cabinet approves creation of new district named Eastern West Khasi Hills District

The Meghalaya cabinet has approved the proposal for creation of a new district named East West Khasi Hills district.
The new district has been formed by upgrading the Mairang civil sub-division.
Mairang will now be a sub-division under West Khasi Hills district.
The new district will be inaugurated by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on November 10, 2021.
With this, the total number of districts in the state will increase to 12.

India’s women’s pistol star Manu Bhaker and Iranian Olympic champion Jawad Forofi have won the 10m air pistol mixed team gold medal at the inaugural ISSF President’s Cup in Wroclaw, Poland on November 05, 2021.
The Indo-Iranian pair defeated the French-Russian pair of Mathilde Lamole and Artem Chernausov 16-8 to win the gold medal.
A seven-member Indian contingent is participating in the ISSF President’s Cup.

Noted cricket coach and Dronacharya awardee Tarak Sinha has passed away after a prolonged illness.
He was 71 years old.
Sinha was awarded the Lifelong Dronacharya Award in 2018.
Sinha is known for training some of India’s finest cricketers like Manoj Prabhakar, Raman Lamba, Ajay Sharma, Atul Wassan, Surinder Khanna, Sanjeev Sharma, Aakash Chopra, Anjum Chopra, Rumeli Dhar, Ashish Nehra, Shikhar Dhawan and Rishabh Pant.
