1. Israel successfully tests new laser-based air defense system ‘Iron Beam’

• Israel has successfully test-fired a new laser missile-defense system named ‘Iron Beam’. This missile can destroy any aerial object including drones.
• Iron Beam is believed to be the world’s first energy-based weapon system that uses a laser beam to shoot down incoming UAVs, rockets, mortars, long-range missiles, anti-tank missiles, etc.

2. PM Modi dedicates K. K. Patel Super Speciality Hospital in Bhuj to the nation

• The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi inaugurated a 200-bedded KK Patel Super Specialty Hospital at Bhuj, Kutch district of Gujarat, through video-conferencing on April 15, 2022, to the nation.
• KK Patel Super Specialty Hospital is built by Shree Kutchi Leva Patel Samaj, which is located in Bhuj and this is the first charitable super specialty hospital established in the Kutch region.
• This hospital guarantees quality medical treatment and provides good service to the people of Kutch including lakhs of soldiers, equal military personnel, and businessmen.
• This initiative is being carried out in line with the policy of the Central Government to establish at least one medical college in almost every district of the country so that India can get a record number of doctors in the next 10 years.

3. Uttarakhand Government announces ‘Him Prahari’ scheme for ex-servicemen and youngsters

• The Chief Minister of Uttarakhand is Pushkar Singh Dhami, by whom a scheme named ‘Him Prahari’ has been announced.
• A new scheme named ‘Him Prahari’ has been started for the ex-servicemen and youth and the main objective of this scheme is to stop the exodus of people from the state.
• The scheme will focus on areas with rapid migration, especially in those districts or areas with international borders.
• The state government will provide all kinds of successful necessary assistance to the ex-servicemen and youth so that people do not think of trying.
• The scheme named ‘Him Prahari’ is going to be implemented with the help of the central government.

• The Indian Air Force (IAF) has graciously signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras to find and devise indigenous and independent solutions for technology development and maintenance of various weapon systems.

• Kotak Mahindra Bank (KMBL) has launched a new enterprise portal named ‘Kotak FYN’. Which is specifically meant to serve commercial banking and corporate customers.
• Using the ‘Kotak FYN portal, the Bank’s customers can avail of all business and service transactions with a seamless experience in a unified view across all product platforms.
• FYN is a future-ready, one-stop digital corporate portal. The portal has the potential to provide comprehensive digital banking and value-added services across all products including trade and services, account services, payments, and collections.

6. India to host Street Child Cricket World Cup in 2023

• India is said to be the host country for the Street Child Cricket World Cup 2023 (SCCWC 2023), a mixed-gender cricket tournament for street children and youth across the world.
• The tournament is expected to be organized by Save the Children India (Bal Raksha Bharat) and Street Child United in September 2023.
• It has been revealed that 22 teams from 16 countries will participate in this 10-day event.
• This will be the second edition of the SCCWC 2023 tournament.

• In Badminton, India player Mithun Manjunath lost the silver medal in the final of the Orleans Masters 2022 after losing to Toma Junior Popov of France 21-11, 21-19.
