  1. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami Launches ‘1065 Anti-Corruption Mobile App’
  • Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, launched a mobile app named ‘1064 Anti-Corruption Mobile App’ on April 08, 2022.
  • This ‘1064 Anti-Corruption Mobile App’ has been developed by the Vigilance Department of the State.
  • This will make it easy and convenient for people to register complaints related to corruption with the authorities directly through the app or phone.
  • This initiative is in line with the commitment of the state government towards building a bright future of corruption-free Uttarakhand.
  1. President Ramnath Kovind Inaugurates Madhavpur Ghed Fair in Gujarat
  • The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, inaugurated the five-day Madhavpur Ghad Mela at Madhavpur Ghad, Porbandar, Gujarat State on April 10, 2022.
  • Madhavpur Ghed Mela is being organized every year by the Government of Gujarat in association with the Ministry of Culture since 2018 to celebrate the holy union of Lord Shri Krishna and Rukmini with great gusto.
  • The Madhavpur Mela connects Gujarat with the North-East region in an integral and sacred bond.
  1. India conducts successful flight-test of anti-tank guided missile ‘Helina’ in Pokhran
  • A team of scientists from both Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), Indian Army and Indian Air Force (IAF) jointly conducted the successful flight high of indigenously developed Anti-Tank Guided Missile ‘HELENA’ on April 11, 2022. Tested from high altitude ranges.
  • The flight tests were conducted from an Advanced and Light in Weight Helicopter (ALH), and the missile was fired completely successfully while engaging the simulated tank target in the Pokhran desert range.
  • The HELINA is considered one of the most advanced anti-tank weapons in the world.
  • The missile has a maximum range of 7 km. The missile has been developed by the Defense Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL), Hyderabad.

  1. Shehbaz Sharif elected as new Prime Minister of Pakistan
  • Pakistan’s opposition leader Shahbaz Sharif has been elected unopposed as the new Prime Minister of the country through voting in the National Assembly.
  • The 70-year-old Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) chief who is set to replace Imran Khan was recently ousted by a no-confidence motion in the National Assembly.
  • Shahbaz Sharif is the brother of Nawaz Sharif, former Prime Minister of Pakistan.
  1. Dr Manoj Soni appointed as Chairman of UPSC
  • Educationist and former Vice Chancellor Dr Manoj Soni has been announced to be appointed as the Chairman of Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) with effect from April 05, 2022.
  • He will take over from Pradeep Kumar Joshi.
  • Dr. Soni’s term is going to last only till June 27, 2023.
  • Dr. Manoj Soni had previously served as the Vice-Chancellor of two universities, namely, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University and MSU, Baroda.
  • Presently there are 6 more members including a Chairman in UPSC.

  1. World Bank and AIIB approves Rs 7,500 Cr Loan for Gujarat Govt’s ‘Mission School Of Excellence’ Project
  • The Government of Gujarat has taken the initiative to launch a project named ‘Mission School of Excellence’, whose main objective is to improve the quality of education and provide education in all government and aided schools in the state.
  • The project will facilitate covering all around 35,133 government and total 5,847 aided schools in the state.
  • Under this project, the state government has decided to spend Rs 10,000 crore over the next five years.
  • To support the Gujarat government’s project, the World Bank and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) have approved a total loan of Rs 7,500 crore for the ambitious project.

  1. Bengali author Amar Mitra wins 2022 O. Henry Prize for short stories
  • Bengali writer Amar Mitra has been honored and awarded the prestigious 2022 O Henry Award for short stories.
  • Writer Amar Mitra has won this award for his work “The Old Man of Kusumpur”, which was originally written in Bengali language, titled Gonburo.
  • The story has been translated into English by senior journalist Anish Gupta and was published in the American web magazine The Common in 2021 in English translation.
  • A total of 20 writers have been honored with the prestigious award in this year 2022.
  • Henry Award: An annual American award given only to short stories of exceptional merit, published or published in an American or Canadian magazine, including interesting stories translated into English.
