  1. Turkey & Azerbaijan Joint Military Drills ‘Mustafa Kemal Ataturk – 2021’ Begins in Baku
  • The joint military exercise between Turkey and Azerbaijan named “Mustafa Kemal Ataturk – 2021” began in Baku on June 28, 2021.
  • The three day drill will run until June 30, 2021, involving up to 600 personnel, around 40 tanks and armoured vehicles, and seven helicopters.
  • The main aim of the exercise is to improve the combat interoperability of the two countries’, develop the commanders’ military decision-making skills and their ability to manage military units.

  1. Andhra Pradesh Launches World Bank-Supported SALT programme to Trasform Foundational Learning
  • The Government of Andhra Pradesh has launched the Supporting Andhra’s Learning Transformation (SALT) project to revolutionize the education sector in the next five years.
  • The International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) has approved $250 million for the project for a period of five years.
  • The main objectives of the SALT programme are strengthening foundation schools and providing training and skill development to teachers, facilitating state-level assessment and establishing an effective education management and information system.
  1. PM Modi Launches Japanese-style Zen Garden and Kaizen Academy in Ahmedabad
  • The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, virtually inaugurated a Zen Garden and Kaizen Academy at the Ahmedabad Management Association (AMA) campus in Ahmedabad on June 27, 2021.
  • These two new initiatives are part of the Prime Minister’s vision of making Gujarat a ‘mini-Japan’.
  • The newly launched Zen Garden in Ahmedabad will showcase several elements of Japanese art, culture, landscape and architecture.
  • The Zen garden features a statue of Lord Buddha.
  • The garden has been created in partnership with the Japan Information and Studies Center at AMA and the India-Japan Friendship Association (IJFA), Gujarat, supported by the Hyogo International Association (HIA), Japan.

  1. Rahi Sarnobat wins gold medal in women’s 25m pistol event at ISSF Shooting World Cup in Croatia
  • In shooting, Indian shooter Rahi Sarnobat won the 25m pistol gold medal at the ISSF Shooting World Cup in Osijek, Croatia. The tournament is being held from 22 June to 03 July 2021.
  • It was India’s first gold at the ongoing edition of the tournament, after the country secured one silver and two bronze medals earlier in the tournament.
