  1. PM Narendra Modi launches mYoga App on International Yoga Day 2021
  • On the occasion of 7th International Day of Yoga on June 21, 2021, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has unveiled myYoga mobile app.
  • The app has been developed in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Ministry of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy (Ministry of AYUSH), Government of India.
  • The mYoga app is preloaded with many yoga training videos and audio practice sessions, in different languages, that can be done in the comfort of our own homes.
  • Currently the mYoga app is available in English, Hindi and French, but will be made available in other UN languages in the upcoming months.
  • Through this initiative, PM Modi government aims to achieve ‘One World, One Health’ motto.”

  1. Centrum, BharatPe to take over PMC Bank and re-launch it as Small Finance Bank
  • The Reserve Bank of India has given in-principle approval to Centrum Financial Services Limited to set up a small finance bank.
  • Centrum Financial Services Limited will acquire Punjab and Maharashtra Co-operative Bank Limited, Mumbai (PMC) and relaunch it as a small finance bank.
  • Resilient Innovation Pvt Ltd (BharatPe) and Centrum Financial Services Ltd will both hold 50% stake in this new small finance bank, which will be formed after the acquisition of Punjab and Maharashtra Co-operative Bank.
  • It must be noted that RBI had placed certain restrictions on Punjab & Maharashtra Co-operative Bank., and in March 2021, the RBI had further extended the restrictions on the PMC Bank till June 30.
  • Centrum Financial Services Ltd (Centrum) is an NBFC arm of the Centrum Group.

State News

  1. Bihar government started ‘Chief Minister Udyami Yojana’
  • Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has launched two ambitious schemes named ‘Mukhya Mantri Yuva Udyami Yojna’ and ‘Mukhya Mantri Mahila Udyami Yojana’.
  • Both the schemes were launched under the ‘Mukhya Mantri Udyami Yojana’ of the state to promote entrepreneurship among youth and women of all sections. The schemes were promised by the Chief Minister during the 2020 Bihar elections.
  • Youth and women – irrespective of caste and creed, wishing to start an enterprise will get a loan of Rs.10 lakh, of which Rs.5 lakh will come as grant from the state government and the remaining Rs.5 lakh as loan, which He also launched a portal on which youth and women of all sections can register themselves to get loans from the government.

  1. India, Japan conduct bilateral naval exercises in the Indian Ocean

  • SEBI has appointed N Venkatram, MD & CEO, Deloitte India as the new member of this takeover panel. SEBI had first constituted this takeover panel in November 2007 under the chairmanship of former Bank of Baroda chairman K Kannan.
