  1. RBI: Banks’ gross non-performing assets reached a six-year low of 5.9% 
  • In March 2022, the gross non-performing assets (GNPA) ratio of banks declined from a high of 7.4 percent in March 2021 to a six-year low of 5.9 percent, according to the recent Financial Stability Report of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). is according to. (FSR).
  • As per the stress test, the GNPA ratio of commercial banks may rise to 5.3 percent by March 2023 from 5.9% in March 2022, due to, among other things, higher than expected bank credit growth and a fall in the stock of GNPAs, according to the research.

  1. Google’s proposed equity acquisition of Bharti Airtel approved by CCI 
  • In an investment agreement (IA) signed by Google and Airtel, the buyer offers to buy a minority and non-controlling stake of 1.28 percent in the equity share capital of the company.
  • Nearly $1 billion was approved by the Competition Commission of India for a 1.28 percent investment by Google in Bharti Airtel. Based on the amendments of the acquirer (Google International LLC), the proposed merger was accepted by CCI.
