  1. Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath names Kangana Ranaut as Brand Ambassador for its ”One District-One Product” Scheme
  • Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government has named Bollywood veteran Kangana Ranaut as the brand ambassador of the state’s ambitious “One District One Product (ODOP) scheme”.
  • The UP government has launched a District-One Product (ODOP) program with an aim to create product-specific traditional industrial hubs in 75 districts of the state. This scheme encourages such indigenous and exclusive products and crafts of UP which are not found anywhere else.
  1. Union Minister Amit Shah flags off ‘Sudarshan Bharat Parikrama’ car rally of NSG from Red Fort

  • Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah flagged off All India Car Rally ‘Sudarshan Bharat Parikrama’ of the National Security Guard (NSG) on October 02, 2021, as a part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, to celebrate 75th years of India’s Independence.
  • The NSG’s car rally was flagged off from the historic Red Fort in Delhi. It will end on October 30, 2021 at the Police Memorial in New Delhi.
  • The month long campaign will cover 7,500 kms long journey through 18 cities in 12 states, passing through important and historical places associated with the Freedom Movement and Freedom Fighters of the country.
  • The rally has been organized under the aegis of the Union Home Ministry.
  1. DAY-NRLM dedicates 50,000 Women SHG members as Business Correspondents to celebrate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav
  • The Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) under the Ministry of Rural Development is commemorating the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav from September 24 to 30, 2021.
  • As a part of the celebration, DAY-NRLM has launched an initiative named “One GP one B C Sakhi” mission, under which 50,000 women SHG members are dedicated to the nation as Business Correspondents (BC) Sakhi in the rural areas for providing basic banking services in the rural areas of the country, for a week.
  • These BC Sakhi will provide doorstep services in every Gram Panchayat (GP).
  • It is proposed that atleast one B C Sakhi will be deployed in the rural areas by the end of 2023-24.
  1. World’s largest Khadi National Flag hoisted in Leh, Ladakh
  • The world’s largest national flag made of Khadi cloth has been installed in Leh, Ladakh on the occasion of 152nd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on October 02, 2021.
  • The Khadi National Flag was inaugurated by the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, RK Mathur.
  • The tricolor is 225 feet long and 150 feet wide. Its weight is about 1,000 kg.
  • The flag has been prepared by the 57 Engineer Regiment of the Indian Army.
  1. Government Declares Chacha Chaudhary as official Mascot of ‘Namami Gange’ Mission

  • The iconic Indian comic book cartoon character, Chacha Chaudhary, whose brain works faster than a computer, has been declared as the official mascot for the centrally-sponsored NamamiGangeProgramme.
  • An outlay of Rs. 2.26 crore has been dedicated to the project. The comics will initially be launched in Hindi, English and Bengali languages.
  • The National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) has tied up with Diamond Toons, the publisher of the Chacha Chaudhary comics, to conceptualize, develop and distribute the new comics, e-comics and animated videos featuring the cartoon character.
  • Chacha Chaudhary has been chosen to especially connect children with the campaign of river cleanliness.
  1. Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment organises VAYO NAMAN Programme for senior citizens
  • To mark the occasion of International Day of Older Persons, the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment organised VAYO NAMAN Programme in New Delhi on October 01, 2021.
  • The Vice President Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu presented Vayoshreshtha Samman-2021 to senior citizens as a part of the occasion and dedicated Elderly Line 14567 to the Nation.
  • Shri M. Venkaiah also launched two portals of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, namely SAGE (Seniorcare Aging Growth Engine) and SACRED (Senior Able Citizens for Re-Employment in Dignity).
  • The SAGE portal aims to encourage entrepreneurs and start-ups in the area of elderly care. The portal will act as a “one-stop access” of elderly care products and services.
  • The SACRED portal will connect the senior citizens with job providers in the private sector.

  1. Birendra Lakra and SV Sunil announces retirement from International Hockey
  • Veteran forward and star striker SV Sunil of India men’s field hockey team and Olympic bronze medalist Indian hockey star defender Birender Lakra have announced their retirement from international hockey.
  • The 31-year-old Lakra was part of the bronze medal winning Indian team at the Tokyo Olympics 2020 as vice-captain. He has represented India in 197 matches with 10 goals.
  • The 32-year-old has scored 72 goals in 264 matches for the national team.

  1. 67th National Wildlife Week : 02 to 08 October 2021
  • Wildlife week is celebrated in India every year from 02 to 08 October for the conservation and protection of the life of the country’s fauna or animals.
