Egypt joins BRICS bank as new member weeks after President Sisi’s visit to India

When President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi came to India as the chief guest of the Republic Day celebration, on his way back from the mission he announced becoming a member of the BRICS New Development Bank (NDB).
According to sources familiar with the matter, Egypt officially joined the NDB on February 20, with a formal notification issued on March 22.

Canara Bank has announced that it has sold its stake in Russia-based joint venture Commercial Indo Bank LLC (CIBL) to the State Bank of India (SBI) for a consideration of approximately Rs 121.29 crore.
CIBL, which was set up in 2003, operates in Russia and SBI holds 60% while Canara Bank holds 40%. According to Canara Bank, the sale agreement was executed on November 11, 2022.
