1. Former NATO General Petr Pavel becomes the new President of the Czech Republic

• Petr Pavel, former chairman of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Military Committee, became the new President of the Czech Republic on 28 January 2023. Petr Pavel defeated billionaire Andrej Babis in a run-off vote to replace his rival and controversial President Milos Zeman.

• Voxsen University has launched Project Aspiration in line with its strong belief in developing its ecosystem and empowering the community around the campus.
• Woxsen University envisages the project for the aspiring girls of classes IX-XII, Telangana Model School, and Junior College. Under Project Aspiration, students are selected by the school principal to participate in the “Train the Trainer” workshop, which started in December 2022.

5. Coal India Limited to launch large-scale M-Sand project

• With a focus on cost-effective and high-quality sand production, Coal India Limited’s subsidiaries will commission five M-Sand (sand) plants by 2024. Sand is classified as a “minor mineral” under the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, of 1957.
• Administrative control of minor minerals rests with the state governments and is regulated through state-specific rules. Due to high demand, regular supply, and a complete ban on sand mining to protect the river ecosystem during monsoon, it has become very necessary to find an alternative to river sand.

• The newly created honor, equivalent to the Sir Richard Hadlee Medal for Outstanding Male Cricketer of the Year, has become a regular feature at the New Zealand Cricket Awards to be held in Auckland on March 23 this year.

9. India won the Women’s Under-19 T20 World Cup

• India won the tournament by defeating England by seven wickets in the final of the Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup. Team India has created history by winning the first edition of this World Cup. Batting first, England had set a target of 69 runs in front of India and Team India achieved it by losing three wickets.
