  1. 75 Women felicitated by NITI Aayog at fifth edition of Women Transforming India Awards
  • NITI Aayog’s Women’s Entrepreneurship Forum (WEP) organized the 5th edition of the Women Transforming India Awards (WTI) on 21 March 2022 by honoring 75 women.
  • As part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, to celebrate 75 years of India’s independence, the WTI Awards were presented to 75 women for their contribution towards a ‘Shakt and Samarth Bharat’.
  • The Women Transforming India Awards are being presented by NITI Aayog since 2018 under the aegis of the Women’s Entrepreneurship Forum (WEP), to highlight and emerge out the commendable and significant efforts of India’s women leaders and change makers with a special focus on entrepreneurship can be brought.
  1. Ministry of Heavy Industries extends Phase-II of FAME India Scheme for two years till 2024
  • The Ministry of Heavy Industries had notified the second phase of the FAME India scheme for about three years from April 2019 to March 2022.
  • By the way, the government has extended the FAME II scheme for 2 years, so that the scheme will be applicable till March 2024.
  • The total budgetary support for the second phase of FAME India scheme for a period of five years is Rs. 10,000 crore from the financial year 2019-20 to 2023-24.
  • The main objective of the FAME India scheme is to promote and enable the adoption of Electric/Hybrid Vehicles (xEV) in India.

  1. New Delhi is world’s most polluted capital city : IQAir’s 2021 World Air Quality Report
  • According to IQAir’s 2021 World Air Quality Report, New Delhi has been ranked the world’s most polluted capital city for the second year in a row, followed by Dhaka (Bangladesh), N’Jamena (Chad), Dushanbe (Tajikistan) and Muscat (Oman). Here are the top five most polluted capital cities respectively that pollute the air.
  • Bhiwadi was the most polluted city in India, followed by Ghaziabad, Delhi and Jaunpur cities.
  • Bangladesh, Chad, Pakistan and Tajikistan were the most polluted countries. India’s place used to come at number five.

Military Exercise

  1. EX-DUSTLIK between Indian and Uzbekistan armies to be held at Yangiarik, Uzbekistan
  • The third edition of the joint training exercise called EX-DUSTLIK between the Indian Army and the Uzbekistan Army is being conducted from 22 March to 31 March 2022 in Yangiyark, Uzbekistan.
  • The last edition of DUSTLIK was held in March 2021 in Ranikhet (Uttarakhand) India.
  • With the Indian contingent being represented by the Grenadiers Regiment, it will join the Uzbekistan Army contingent, represented by troops from the North-West Military District.

GDP Rate

  1. Fitch Ratings lowers India’s FY23 growth forecast to 8.5%
  • Fitch Ratings in its Global Economic Outlook-March 2022 has slashed India’s GDP growth forecast for the fiscal year 2022-2023 to 8.5 per cent from the earlier projected 10.3%.
  • Rating agency Fitch has increased the GDP growth forecast for the current fiscal year 2021-2022 to 8.7 per cent.

  1. Burkina Faso’s Francis Kere receives 2022 Pritzker Architecture Prize
  • Diebedo Francis Kéré of Burkina Faso has been honored with the award of being declared the 2022 prize winner of the Pritzker Architecture Prize.
  • Established in 1979, the Pritzker Prize is the highest and most coveted honor in the architecture field, and it is the first black person to receive this honor, being the 51st winner of the Francis Carey Prize.
  • He has also been the recipient of the 2004 Aga Khan Award for Architecture.
