  • The Survey Settlement and Land Records (SSLR) unit of the Revenue Department of Karnataka is ensuring easy availability of basic land records through an app called Dishank.
  • Dishank App has been developed under the Geographic Information System (GIS) program of Karnataka State Remote Sensing Application Center (KSRSAC).

  1. SBI to set up Innovation, Incubation, and Acceleration Centre at Hyderabad 
  • State Bank of India (SBI) will set up an Innovation, Incubation and Acceleration Center (IIAC) in Hyderabad, Telangana, which will be operational in six to nine months of on-boarding of a consultant.
  • This center will be the bank’s in-house capability to enhance its current performance and drive higher top-line growth through innovation. It will help the bank to develop a set of technologies, knowledge and skills for introduction of new products and services. It will act as a central body to govern and drive fin-tech partnerships and implement change across the bank.
  1. Mahila Money, Visa, and Transcorp launched Prepaid Card for Women Entrepreneurs 
  • Digital payments networks Mahila Money, Visa and Transcorp Prepaid Payment Instruments (PPIs) have launched Mahila Money Prepaid Card to help women entrepreneurs easily make payments, collect loans and get incentives for transactions.
  • The prepaid card has been designed keeping in mind the needs of digital entrepreneurs, small businessmen and women. The card is meant for members of the community who want the convenience of a bank account with added flexibility, security and convenience. This collaboration will pave the way for economic independence and financial inclusion for lakhs of women entrepreneurs.

  1. Miss World 2021: Poland’s Karolina Bielawska crowned
  • Poland’s Karolina Bilawska has won the title of Miss World 2021. She was crowned Miss World Jamaica 2019 by Tony-Ann Singh. He defeated USA, Indonesia, Mexico, Northern Ireland and Cte d’Ivoire to clinch the coveted title.
  • Indian-American Mr. Saini from the United States took the first runner-up title, followed by Olivia Yeses from Cte d’Ivoire. The 70th edition of the Miss World International beauty pageant was held in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
  • Miss World 2019 Tony-Ann Singh performed ‘The Prayer’ during the 70th Miss World pageant to express solidarity with Ukraine amid the Russia-Ukraine crisis. Femina Miss India World 2020 Manasa Varanasi represented India at Miss World 2021. Manasa Varanasi reached the top 13 contestants but could not make it to the top 6 finalists.

  • International Day of happiness is observed every year around the world on March 20.   1. India’s Ordnance Factories’ Day: 18 March
  • Ordnance Factory Day is celebrated every year on 18 March. The production of India’s oldest Ordnance Factory, which is at Kosipore, Kolkata, was started on March 18, 1802. OFB is the 37th largest defense equipment manufacturer in the world, the second largest in Asia and the largest in India.
  • The day is celebrated by displaying rifles, guns, artillery, ammunition etc. in exhibitions all over India. The celebrations begin with a parade and photographs of various mountaineering expeditions will also be displayed in the exhibition.

  1. American Astrophysicist Eugene Parker passes away
  • American astrophysicist Eugene Newman Parker, who contributed to solar physics, died at the age of 94. Eugene Parker 2018 saw the launch of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)’s Parker Solar Probe, the name of NASA’s first mission. Survived, and became the first person to witness the launch of a spacecraft named after him.
  • Parker is a visionary in the field of heliophysics, focusing on the study of the Sun and other stars, and is best known for his theory on the existence of the solar wind, a supersonic flow of particles from the Sun’s surface. He virtually created the field of heliophysics in the 1950s.
