India, Russia to establish a ‘2+2 ministerial dialogue

India and Russia have agreed and agreed to establish a ‘2+2 Ministerial Dialogue’ between the two countries at the level of Foreign and Defense Ministers.
Russia is the fourth country and the first non-Quad member country with which India has established a ‘2+2 Ministerial Dialogue’ mechanism.
India has such a mechanism with the US, Japan, and Australia. This is also expected to boost the bilateral strategic partnership agreement between India and Russia.

Indian Navy launches Operation Samudra Setu-II

The Indian Navy has launched Operation Samudra Setu-II to help in the rapid transportation of medical oxygen and other essential requirements from other countries to India amid its deteriorating COVID-19 pandemic situation.
As a part of Operation ‘Samudra Setu II’, seven ships of the Indian Navy have been deployed for shipment of cryogenic containers filled with liquid medical oxygen and related medical equipment from different countries. These seven ships are the battleships Kolkata, Kochi, Talwar, Tabar, Trikand, Jalashwa, and Airavat.

GST revenues touch an all-time high of ₹1.41 lakh in April

Japan’s Order of the Rising Sun honor Shyamala Ganesh

The Japanese government recently honored Bengaluru-based Japanese teacher Shyamala Ganesh with the “Order of the Rising Sun” award. Shyamala Ganesh is a Japanese teacher at the Septuagenarian Institute and also a teacher at Ikebana’s Ohara School in RT Nagar, Bangalore.
Since its inception 38 years ago, she has taught and skilled hundreds of students. Ikebana is a type of Japanese art of flower arrangement.
The “Order of the Rising Sun” award is given to those who have made outstanding achievements in the promotion of Japanese culture, achievements in international relations, progress in their fields, and protection of the environment.

T Rabi Sankar named RBI deputy governor

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) executive director T Rabi Shankar has been nominated as the fourth deputy governor of the central bank. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has given its nod by approving his appointment.
T Rabi Shankar is in charge of Payment Systems, Fintech, Information Technology, and Risk Management at RBI.
He will replace BP Kanungo as deputy governor, who retired on April 2 after getting a one-year extension in his post.
