  1. Cabinet approves USD808-million programme for “Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance”
  • The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved a new scheme to improve the performance of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
  • The scheme named ‘Rising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) is a type of Central Sector Scheme assisted by the World Bank which is likely to be launched in the financial year 2022-23.
  • The total outlay for the scheme is being estimated at Rs 6,062.45 crore (USD 808 million). Of the total outlay, Rs 3750 crore (USD 500 million) will be loaned from the World Bank and the remaining Rs 2312.45 crore (USD 308 million) will be funded by the Government of India (GoI).

  1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually attends 5th BIMSTEC Summit Chaired by Sri Lanka
  • The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, took part in the 5th Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) summit on March 30, 2022, through virtual mode, by participating or rather taking part in the violence.
  • The summit was hosted by the Government of Sri Lanka, the presiding nation of BIMSTEC.
  • The theme of the summit was “Towards a Resilient Region, Prosperous Economies, Healthy People”.
  • At the conclusion of the summit, Thailand took over as the presiding nation of BIMSTEC.
  • This year 2022 is the 25th year of the establishment of BIMSTEC.

  • The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has announced the appointment of Dr. Renu Singh as the next Director of Forest Research Institute (FRI) in Dehradun, Uttarakhand.
  • Dr Renu is a 1990 batch Indian Forest Service (IFS) woman officer from Madhya Pradesh cadre.
  • FRI Dehradun is a premier institute under the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE).

  • Veteran Belgian footballer Miguel Van Damme has sadly passed away at the age of 28 after a long battle with leukemia and Jung.
  • Van Damme was diagnosed with leukemia in 2016 and had been undergoing treatment for cancer for nearly five years.
  • During his eight-year professional career, Van Damme played brilliantly for Cercle Brugge and made 40 appearances for the team.
